The gardens at Kinmount are the most magnificent backdrop for any wedding or event as they offer so many opportunities for that exquisite photograph that will remain in your album for life and remind you of your wedding day for years to come.
The gardens were planted mainly by Edward Brook my Great Grandfather in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. He established the Italian gardens to the east of the house and then he constructed the rock gardens through the woods along with the walled garden. The gardens have had a bit of work carried out by the previous owners in the last 40 years but sadly a lot of the Yew hedging has suffered.
The Italian Gardens
Sue and Dave our Head Gardeners have been very busy removing the majority of plants and reorganising the beds. It has been a mammoth task and a great testament to what they have achieved. The Italian Garden is the most stunning location for more formal photographs or outdoor ceremonies. We are trying to plant a scheme that will have a backdrop of many colours at any time of year.
From the Italian gardens are the great steps leading you down to the lake. This is the ideal location for a large outdoor wedding ceremony or group photograph as there are 45 steps, each able to stand 9 people and half way down the steps is a large plateau that will stand another 50 guests, bringing a total of over 400 wedding guests to overlook your ceremony at the bottom by the lakeside. The steps are overhung by majestic oak trees and the beautiful cascading laburnum flowers.
It is from here that the married couple can board the “Good Life”, our gentlemen’s river cruiser for a gentle cruise around the lake for the ultimate wedding photographs, with Kinmount House or the Victorian bathing house as your backdrop.
